Bond's Best Women. James Bond

Bond's Best Women. James Bond is as well known for his taste in women as he is for his gadgets and tendency to find himself in situations that would kill lesser secret agents. In some 22 films, Bond has entertained quite a number of female companions (often tallying several per film).

List of the very best 20  Bond girls from number 20 to number 1....

Paris Carver (Teri Hatcher) - 'Tomorrow Never Dies' - Hatcher does a stellar job playing one of Bond's ex-girlfriends, who marries the evil media mogul Elliot Carver. Bond still manages to seduce her, which leads her husband to order her murder.

Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) - 'Diamonds Are Forever' - A frank, tough as nails diamond smuggler, Case is the perfect counterpoint to Bond's suave repartee. Fittingly, today St. John is married to Robert Wagner, who plays No. 2 in the Austin Powers movies.

Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) - 'GoldenEye' - Onatopp was unfortunately named — especially since her party trick involved suffocating men with her thighs — but undeniably cool. She's the one Bond girl you'd like to avoid bedding.

Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi) - 'From Russia With Love' - A Russian spy hired to seduce Bond, Romanova's best scene involves her slipping into Bond's room and bed unnoticed, wearing nothing but a black ribbon choker. Bianchi supposedly got the job because she impressed Connery during her screen test, which involved this scene. The scene became a standard way to screen test future Bonds, perhaps because it represents the horndog spy so well.

Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) - 'The Spy Who Loved Me' - Though Bond girls are notorious for their double entendre names, Bach plays a Russian spy whose codename isn't even close to subtle: XXX. Bond gets off on the wrong foot by killing Amasova's lover, but she eventually comes around to his charms. In real life, Bach is married to Ringo Starr.

Kissy Suzuki (Mie Hama) - 'You Only Live Twice' - Mie Hama (in bikini) plays Japanese secret agent Kissy Suzuki, who helps Bond pose as a Japanese man and eventually sneak into the hollowed-out volcano base of Ernst Stavro Blofeld (with cat). Hama was the first Asian woman to appear in Playboy magazine

Solitaire (Jane Seymour) - 'Live And Let Die' - Live and Let Die was the first Bond movie to feature Roger Moore, as well as the first to feature the word "pimpmobile." Jane Seymour's character is a clairvoyant virgin who loses her abilities after Bond seduces her. Bad show, 007.

Mary Goodnight (Britt Ekland) - 'The Man With the Golden Gun' - Fans of the novels were disappointed to see Ekland's Goodnight on the big screen. Goodnight serves as a sort of assistant to Bond, and though she shows a real affection for Bond in the books, she comes off as a ditz in the movie.

Jinx (Halle Berry) - 'Die Another Day' - Though Die Another Day may have been the very worst Bond movie ever made (the sequence showing an out-of-shape Pierce Brosnan surfing on an obviously CGI monster wave is especially egregious), you can't argue with Halle Berry's performance. Jinx is a feisty, gorgeous NSA agent with the classic Bond girl mix of sexiness and intrigue.

Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh) - 'Tomorrow Never Dies' - Bond meets with Wai in Hong Kong while investigating media mogul Elliot Carver, and their personal and professional relationship blossoms quickly. Wai's karate and gadgets come in handy as the two join forces to stop Carver's devious scheme to sell newspapers.

Jill Masterson (Shirley Eaton) - 'Goldfinger' - An iconic image and a fascinating lesson in skin suffocation, Shirley Eaton may not have had much screen time but will live forever in the halls of Bond girls.

Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) - 'Moonraker' - Combine outer-space laser fights and a ridiculous scheme involving eugenics and you get one of the campiest Bond films ever made. But Dr. Goodhead gets credit for being both a space scientist and a CIA agent. She's also the first woman to make love to Bond in space.

Melina Havelock (Carole Bouquet) - For Your Eyes Only - Bouquet's Havelock is a girl on a mission, seeking to avenge her mother and father after they are gunned down in front of her at the beginning of the film. Most intriguing about her, however, is how she's able to use her Citroën 2CV to outmaneuver the much better cars of two henchmen.

Contessa Teresa 'Tracy' di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg) - 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' - Soon after he meets her, Tracy threatens to kill Bond "for a thrill." Later in the film, Bond marries her. At the end, she's tragically murdered. Not your typical Bond girl arc, but Rigg makes it work.

Dominique 'Domino' Derval (Claudine Auger ) - 'Thunderball' - Kim Basinger had nothing on Auger in Thunderball's pseudo-remake Never Say Never Again. If your evil boyfriend tortures you and kills your brother, what other recourse is there but to shoot him with a harpoon?

Octopussy (Maud Adams) - 'Octopussy' - A wealthy recluse named Octopussy lives on a floating palace in India where she is surrounded by an army of followers. Sounds just like Bond's type.

Miss Moneypenny - Played by Lois Maxwell (pictured) for 14 films, Miss Moneypenny appears in nearly every James Bond film — making her something of an honorary Bond girl. She serves as secretary to M, Bond's boss, and her punny banter with Bond makes her a fan favorite for the ages.

Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) - 'Casino Royale' - Nervously attractive and elegant at the same time, Eva Green's Vesper Lynd was one of the many high points in Casino Royale. Though ultimately treacherous, she was a Bond girl that girlfriends could love.

Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) - 'Goldfinger' - The leader of Pussy Galore's Flying Circus, Pussy begins as a hardened criminal, but eventually betrays Goldfinger, partially due to Bond's charms. Blackman remains the oldest ever Bond girl, as she was 39 at the time of filming.

Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) - 'Dr. No' - Has there ever been a more famous bikini in the history of film? Every Bond girl that followed had a little bit of Honey Ryder; she acted as both the first and the prototype of all Bond's women. Sometimes the classics really are the best.
